Trish and Michael had similar introductions to the Hereford breed. Back in the 1950's Trish's father, Vin McInerney bought his first Poll Hereford females to start the Garryowen stud at Riverton in South Australia.
As a young girl, Trish, clearly remembers the first day they arrived from George Bennett's Fork Tree Stud at Normanville. Coincidentally, at almost exactly the same time, but many hundreds of kilometres away, Michael's father, Roy Cobb, had purchased his first Poll Hereford cattle too. This was for his commercial farming operation at Lyndhurst, in the Central Tablelands of NSW. As a young boy, Michael also vividly remembers the excitement of them being unloaded from the truck and walked into the paddock. In the 60 years since, both families fully embraced Poll Herefords and bred them up to be a major part of their farms. Eventually this love of Herefords, along with that of cricket and politics, brought Trish and Michael together, culminating in Trish's Waratah Poll Hereford Stud and Michael's commercial enterprise in the Blayney and Lyndhurst districts of New South Wales. Several major wins at the Sydney Royal Easter Show followed. However, after putting all that behind them to go into what they thought was a well-earned retirement, Trish and Michael suddenly realised they were in withdrawal. No beautiful red and white bovines could be found anywhere in their new Adelaide home backyard. So, after much searching they discovered what was once part of a large dairy farm near Mount Compass to the south of Adelaide. The Kilkerrin Poll Hereford Stud began.
Trish served as a director of Herefords Australia from 2017 to 2022 including as Chairman for the 20-21 term.
